
Stop Fighting With Your SIPA Preform Heaters
If you’ve ever dealt with uneven wall thickness or bottles that just burst for no apparent reason, you know the frustration. It’s a headache. Most of the time, the SIPA rotary machine isn’t the problem. The real culprit? It’s usually those replacement infrared lamps. If the power doesn’t match the original OEM specs exactly, you’re asking for trouble. The trick is in the power. We build our heater modules to be a mirror image of your SIPA specs. Why? Because even a tiny slip in voltage or wattage creates “cold spots” or “hot spots” as the oven rotates. It ruins the consistency. Now, a 400V high-output tube gives you the heat density you need to keep cycle times fast. But there’s a catch. That kind of power puts a real load on your wiring. Just make sure your power supplies can handle the total amperage, or you’ll be replacing burnt-out lamps way sooner than you’d like. About the tech… We use shortwave halogen with specific quartz coatings. I won’t bore you with the science, but basically, it helps the heat soak into the PET resin faster. This means your preforms spend less time in the oven. As for the installation, it’s easy. We use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They just slide right into your existing sockets. No rewiring the frame, no fancy tools, no stress. Real talk from the shop floor. Let’s be honest: no lamp lasts forever. High-wattage tubes take a beating because they’re constantly heating up and cooling down in a rotary setup. Our modules help stabilize things, but you still have to do your part. Keep an eye on your cooling air flow. If your blow-off air is clogged, those high-density lamps will warp your preform necks, no matter how perfect the power match is. And for heaven’s sake, keep your reflectors clean. Dust on the mirror kills the efficiency. When that happens, the lamps have to run hotter to compensate, and that’s the fastest way to kill your equipment.
