
Getting the Heat Right in Sidel Matrix Blowers
Here’s the problem when you swap out the original infrared lamps in a Sidel Matrix or KOSME blower: if the temperature ramp-up shifts even a little, you’re in trouble. If the heat density isn’t spot on, your preforms heat up unevenly. That’s how you end up with wonky wall thickness or those annoying pearlescent streaks in your PET bottles. Nobody wants to deal with that. Matching the specs We don’t just make “similar” lamps. We build them to hit the exact voltage, wattage, and size of the original Sidel parts. Think of a lamp as a calibrated radiator, not just a piece of wire that gets hot. By mirroring the electrical resistance and the way the filament is shaped, the infrared wavelength stays the same. The best part? You don’t have to spend your whole weekend messing with oven settings and timing. You just drop them in, and the heating curve stays right where it should be. The nitty-gritty on quartz and fit We use high-purity quartz glass because short-wave radiation is brutal on materials. It has to be tough. And then there are the connectors. If a plug is off by even a fraction of a millimeter, you get arcing or a loose connection. That’s a fast track to burning out the lamp ends. We obsess over the mechanical fit so you aren’t swearing at the machine on the shop floor during installation. It just clicks. One thing to watch out for High-wattage short-wave lamps put out a massive amount of heat to get that PET preform ready. It’s great for speeding up your cycles, but it puts a lot of pressure on your ventilation. Keep your cooling blowers clean. Seriously. If your airflow gets choked, even the best lamp in the world will overheat the quartz envelope and kill the filament. Keep the air moving, and your hardware will last much longer.
